The Importance of Blood Donation

In the U.S., a blood transfusion is needed every two seconds. The demand often outnumbers the supply of available blood in the bank. Have you given blood lately? In honor of National Blood Donor Month, it’s a good time to consider doing so.

Blood Donation Statistics

  • Over 1/3 of the US population is eligible to donate
  • Less than 10% donate
  • One in four people will need a blood transfusion during their life
  • One donation can help save up to three lives

AllergyEasy invites the public to join in supporting the American Red Cross by donating blood or helping to spread awareness of the importance of blood donations.

For more information about blood donation, call the American Red Cross at 1-800-RED-CROSS or visit them online at http://www.redcrossblood.org/donating-blood.
